The Black & Decker HPD18AK-2 18v cordless drill is a decent drill for the money and gets a 6.5 overall rating. Users of this drill really seem to like it with a 4.7 out of 5 rating on Amazon. The price is very attractive at under $100.
As for the overall performance, well that is a bit lacking. It has 330 in-lbs of torque which is well below average for an 18v model, but it is about the most you will find for a cordless drill under $100. The NiCd batteries are rated at 1.1Ah which is also well below average and take 60 minutes to recharge. That means you risk the possibility of running out of juice before your second battery is charged up again. Buyers should also note the 3/8″ chuck size may limit some applications.
For basic homeowner tasks, this is a capable drill. However, we would not recommend it for serious DIY projects, unless price is major concern.
