We give the Hitachi DS14DL 14.4v cordless drill an 8.9 overall rating. This is definitely one of the best 14.4v models you can buy. The Hitachi HXP li-ion batteries give you a full 3.0 Ah of use. It has above average torque and speed for its class. It also has a two-step speed switch which allows the user the ability to select from 4 different speed settings.
The price is a concern for the DS14DL at close to $200. Another thing to be mindful of is the chuck size of 3/8″. This is the only 14.4v drill that does not have a 1/2″ chuck size which limits the bits you can use.
We recommend this drill although there are comparable 18v cordless drills for less money.
