The Makita LXFD01CW 18v cordless drill is an excellent compact drill that we give an 8.8 overall rating. We rank this unit as our #3 best 18v compact cordless drill. We really like using this model since it only weighs 3.3 lbs. Users on Amazon agree as well giving it a 4.1 out of 5. Despite that light weight it still has above average torque. The slim li-ion batteries are only rated for 1.5Ah, but they recharge in a class-best 15 minutes so that isn’t a big deal.
Some people have complained about a slight wobble in the chuck and had some problems with the forward/reverse switch. These problems seem to be few, but does cause us some hesitation in recommending this drill for professional use.
With a price of almost half off of the top high performance 18v models, this is a great tool for the money. For a homeowner or DIYer we highly recommend this cordless drill.
