The Skil 2898LI-02 18v cordless drill surprised us with a solid performance for its price and thus receives a 8.1 overall rating. For a drill/driver that costs under $100, we were not expecting the performance it put out. First of all since it weighs in at just 2.9 lbs it ranks as one of the lighter 18v models you can buy. This Skil version puts out 400 in-lbs and 1400 RPM which are both just slightly below average for its class, but still enough power to handle almost any task.
There are two main downsides to this cordless drill. The first is that it is made of cheap plastic that has a tendency to break if dropped. Therefore we do not recommend this one for lots of rugged outdoor use. The other downside is that it comes with only 1 lithium-ion battery, while most cordless drills you buy come with 2. So when using this drill you will need to buy a second battery, or risk running out of power and having to wait 30 minutes to an hour for it to charge back up.
Overall this is a good choice of a cordless drill for homeowners to do odd jobs around the house because of its price, but it is not for professionals who use their tools for a living.
